There are many reasons why you would wish to replace your motorbike gas tank.  Naturally if you’ve got a gas tank which is damaged or leaking in any way you want to be sure to replace it before you get into an accident and go up in flames.  Lots of riders decide to replace gas tanks which are in great condition so that they can set in a new tank which can give them a larger riding range.   

One type of riding which has become enlarging popular over the last few years is desert riding.  This is where you really begin to see the constraints of your original bike gas tank.  The big trial when designing new aftermarket motorcycle gas tanks is to form a product which can give the rider a much bigger riding range without having a negative effect on ergonomics, weight, or the appearance of the bike.  Luckily there are some great O.E.M gas tanks out there nowadays that do just that.  Some of the top producers of aftermarket bike gas tanks are IMS and Zip-Ty Racing.   

The designers at IMS have been working with champ motocross racer Ty Davis, founder of Zip-Ty Racing, to create the subsequent generation of motorcycle gas tanks.  These new sleek gas tanks have been test driven by a lot of various riders.  The major agreement is they hold a lot more gas but feel a bit like the stock tank.   

Lots of early versions of aftermarket gas tanks were much too chunky.  This added bulk made turns and cornering difficult.  These new tanks give you all of the advantages of additional fuel capacity without this added bulk.  Taking a ride on a motorbike outfitted with one of these new tanks is the most effective method to see the advantages .  They are cushty to ride and look great.
