The van and truck sales sector has released yet more bad news for the motoring industry. June figures show that the number of trucks being registered are still falling, however, van registrations are improving slightly.

The amount of trucks being registered has been falling month by month, however, the figures for June have shown the largest drop in registrations yet. With the number of new trucks being registered in June reaching only 2,761, this shows a 47% decline in registrations on June 2008.

The other side of the sector has seen some improvement, the amount of van registrations. In June the amount of van registrations reached 17,158 units. This value shows a 40.1% fall in registrations compared to the same time last year, however, the drop in sales from last month has actually been the smallest drop so far. This shows that the amount of van sales is starting to level out.

One manufacturer that did well in June was Renault. They racked up a 78.5% rise in sales for their vans and light trucks during June. One model in particular that did well was the Renault Trafic van. Renault have found the Trafic van to be their bestselling van to date, plus with it winning the 2009 Security award recently, the sales should continue to rise.

The amount of truck and van sales is affected by a number of factors. One reason is that many businesses are waiting to see if van and truck prices continue to fall before buying.
